to retire newtoatx.com – first, because I’m not “new” to ATX anymore, and second, my original aim for the site isn’t what I want to do anymore. Since I’ve been here for more than a year, my perceptions of the fashion scene have changed and my goals for the site have as well. And ultimately, my goals for ME here in Austin have also changed.

So, I’m going to be erasing everything from newtoatx.com and starting anew over at {austin fashion seen} – AND I’m changing my local Austin twitter name to atxfashionseen (my general twitter is still greedygrechen). Hope it’s not too confusing

Anyway, I hope you’ll stick around, things might be a little different, but I think you’ll like it. And don’t fear, I’ll be resuming bi-weekly/monthly get-together’s soon, maybe starting with an {austin fashion seen} launch party? how does that sound? The soft launch will be 6/1, party date TBA. See you then!!

Thanks to Cathy for organizing the brunch this week!! I asked her to plan for a later brunch/lunch on my behalf but then I looked at the brunch menu for NXNW and decided to bump it up to 1 instead of 2 so we can still order from the brunch menu (I’ll take the BRUNCH PIZZA PLEASE!!!)

Okay, it’s 100% official…Happy Hour will be at NoRTH (in the domain) on November 9th at 6:00 (they’ve graciously extended happy hour prices JUST FOR US until 7:00). Please come it seems like it’s been forever since we’ve seen each other!!! We will be seated outside, so wear your warm sweaters, and tights (yay!!) – and maybe do some shopping after?

Yes…it’s finally official!! We’ve been talking about this forever, and now it’s scheduled thanks to Andrea who has graciously offered to host our (hopefully) first of many clothing swaps on Saturday, November 13th at 11:00 AM.

Here are some guidelines Andrea provided based on swaps she’s hosted before:

1. Bring at least 3 items – clothing, accessories, shoes, bags, hats and so on. Bring as much as you can, but it’s okay if you only have three things, don’t worry!
2. Make sure all the items you bring are in good condition – clean and ironed if necessary. No ratty old t-shirts, ancient yoga pants, things with holes in or anything else you know no one else will want. Save them for Goodwill.
3. Names will be drawn out of a hat to determine in what order people get to choose their items – one thing at a time .
4. Any clothes that don’t find a new home (or get reclaimed by their owner) will go to a thrift store.

We are all responsible for bringing food/drinks, so please leave a comment below, first to let us know if you will come, and second what you’ll bring (food/drink). Please take a look at the previous comments to make sure you’re not bringing something someone’s already signed up for though!

And as we get closer to November 13th, I’ll send out Andrea’s address/info via the private e-mail newsletter.

Brunch yesterday at El Chile was fabulous (missed everyone who couldn’t make it ) and even included a couple of newbies to the group, Becca & Laurel. Both of the ladies work with Well Styled as personal stylists, but Becca is new here from NYC (woohoo!!) and Laurel also has her own blog – Trophy Boutique.

I’ll be out of town this Thursday, so no lunch, and while I will be back in town the following Thursday, I’m not going to plan a “formal” lunch – but I will be at Mandola’s at 12:30 on October 28 if anyone wants to join me (can’t get enough of their minestrone soup…). I do want to put out feelers for a Happy Hour on Monday, November 1 at the Domain – probably at NoRTH if they can accomodate us. It’s also the day before my birthday; it would be nice to have a pre-birthday celebration with all of you

Let me know if you think you can make it to a Happy Hour on November 1st – if enough of us can make it, I’ll go ahead and start planning.
